Aims and Objectives.

Aims and objectives of the Sports & Y.S Department are to promote Sports/games and Youth Activities in the State.

Mission/Vision.

The Department looks forward to extend Sports Infrastructures in all District Head quarters of the State, promote Sports and games as well as programme amongst Youth by way of establishing more Sports Hostel in the State.

Brief History and Background for its Establishment.

This Department has its exclusive entity since December-1995 due to increased thrust and attention to Sports and Youth Services matter. Creation of Sports Infrastructures for development of Sports & games and implementation of various Youth Programmes towards National Integration Camp, Organisation of State Level Youth Festival for participation in National Level Competition, Youth Exchange programme and conduct of different adventure Sports programmee etc. for Nation building are main activities of the Department.

RTI Central Monitoring Mechanism(CMM) named as "Loka Soochana" is a Central Monitoring Mechanism by Govt. of Orissa to ensure the implementation of Right To Information for all public authorities related to Govt. of Orissa. This is developed with an objective to provide single point access of all RTI related information catering to section 4[1][b], section 25 of RTI ACT, 2005 in an uniform manner. This project is monitored by Department of Information & Public Relations,Govt. of Orissa [Nodal Department of Govt. of Orissa for RTI Implementation] in collaboration with Luminous Infoways.
