Particulars of Organisation, Functions and Duties

Objectives of the Organization:

The Department of Information Technology aims of for the Development, Co-ordination and supervision of all activities relating to Information Technology including Computer, Communication and Software and Development, Co-ordination and Supervision of activities relating to Electronics in the State.

Mission / Vision :

The Department of Information Technology strive to develop a well planned, robust and futuristic IT architecture in the State which will bring about positive changes in all walks of life and society, resulting in ease and convenience in transaction, augmenting employment opportunities to the educated youth and ushering high economic growth in a definite time frame. Government will help IT reach the common citizen so as to narrow down the digital divide. Widespread applications of IT would establish a system where the citizens will receive good governance ensuring speed of decisions from a transparent Government through an effective e-Governance System.

Brief History & Background for its Establishment:

Vide G.A. Department Notification No. RB-13/99-857/Gen. Dated 06.01.2000, Rules of Business has been amended to include the subjects under 'Information Technology' and 'Electronics' under the newly formed Department of Information Technology and vide Order No. 11968 dated 10.03.2000, Secretary for Department of Information Technology was posted.

Duties of the Public Authority:

The officials allocated with the business of the department perform their duties as per the delegation of powers brought  out in the standing order No.2344/IT dated 15.10.2004.

List of Srvices Being Provide by the Public Authority with a Brief Write -up on them:

The Information Technology Department is responsible for performing the following activities.

1. To conceptualize e-Governance Projects and run pilot projects.
2. To render technical advice to department on IT Projects.
3. To set standers of IT goods and services.
4. To prepare panel of vendors for AMC data entry etc.
5. To establish and maintain state Wide Area Network.
6. To provide IT Training to the officials of the secretariat.
7. To participate in exhibitions /seminars to spread knowledge on IT
8. State portal group.
9. Single window service.
10. Self Employment Scheme for educated unemployed youth.
