Particulars of Organization Functions & Duties

Aims and Objectives of the Organization:
The Department of Industries is responsible for the industrial development of the State. In furtherance of this objective, initiatives are being taken by the Department to put in place a robust policy frame work for facilitating industrial promotion and investment. The Department emphasized on leveraging the abundant mineral and other resources of the State and promotes maximum value addition creating employment opportunities for the people of the State. For the purpose Industrial Policy Resolution-2007 has been put in place which emphasizes deregulation, simplification of rules and procedures to enable a conductive business climate and facilitate case of doing business in the State.
Mission/ Vision:
For industrial development and to cater the manpower requirements of the industries in the State, Industries Department has four Directorates and a number of Corporations mainly discharging the activities with broad objectives of promoting and facilitating the industries in the State and enables the rural poor to get technical training facilities for better job.
Brief History & Context of its Formation:
It was started functioning as an independent Department of the State Government formation.
Main Activities/ Functions:
As delineated in the Orissa Government Rules of Business including instructions of G.A. Department for time to time.

- Orissa State Financial Corporation (OSFC), Cuttack
- Orissa Film Development Corporation (OFDC), Cuttack
- Orissa Small Scale Industries Corporation (OSIC), Cuttack
- Orissa Khadi & Village Industries Board (OK &VIB), Bhubaneswar
- Orissa Co-operative Coir Corporation Limited (OCCC), Bhubaneswar
- Orissa State Co-operative Handicraft Corporation (OSCHC), Bhubaneswar
