Powers
Supdt. Of Excise shall exercise the powers conferred and perform the duties imposed on him as an Excise Officer by or under the Bihar and Orissa Excise Act,1915 and the rules framed there under being immediate subordination to the Collector of the district in all excise related matter such as grant of pass/ permit, collection of Excise revenue, settlement of excise shops, in conduct of excise raids and arrest of excise offenders, confiscation/ Composition of offence. Besides he has to look after the establishment related matter pertaining to the excise employees etc.

Inspector of Excise
To act as per the duties and power assigned under the B&O Excise Act and the rules framed there under and primarily includes inspection of excise shops, collection for Excise revenue, prevention of Excise crime by conducting excise raids, settlement of excise shops and carry out the orders/ instructions of Supdt. Of Excise/ Collector/ Excise Commissioner and Government etc.

Sub- Inspector of Excise
As stated above for the Inspector of Excise but relating to the Sub Inspector of Excise

Excise Constable
Assist to S.I/ I.E.

Head Clerk
To monitor and examine the file & placed before S.E. And maintain Cash Book, Supply of M. Opium etc.

Senior Clerk & Junior Clerk
Account/ Establishment Files as assigned to him.
