Particulars of Organization, Funtions & Duties

[Section-4 (1) (b) (i)]

   The main aim and objectives of the department. of Energy is to take all policy decision as envisaged under the laws of electricity in the State. Besides as Administrative Department, it controls, monitors and regulates the functions of subordinate offices as well reviews the performance of various corporate both as involved inGeneration, Transmission and Distribution of Powers in the State.The Department. also to ensure all the Villages and Hamlets in the State in a  targeted time frame. Supply of stable and qualitative Power in the State, meeting the requirement of power in the State is also the responsibilities of the State.

Hydropower Generation, R & M works of Hydro Power Stations

Orissa Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC).

Thermal Power Generation, R & M works of Thermal Power Stations

Engineer-in-Chief and Principal Chief Inspector (E.I.C. and P.C.I.)

 

Inspection of Electrical Installation, Survey and investigation of new Power Projects, Collection of Electricity Duty, Inspection fee etc.

Orissa Electricity Regulatory Corporation

To regulate the function of different licenses, Fixation of tariff and other regulatory affairs.

Distribution Companies (DISTCO)

Distribution of power in the State at 33 K.V. & below.

This is developed with an objective to provide single point access of all RTI related information catering to section 4[1][b], section 25 of RTI ACT, 2005 in an uniform manner.
